Former teacher faces 680 counts in child porn case

Allen Solomon, 63, of 415 S. Fifth Ave., Patton, is facing hundreds of counts of sexual abuse of children for allegedly posting images of a boy and a man in sexual poses on a Web site.Source Tribune-Review. A retired Cambria County teacher was arrested by state police on computer porn charges. Allen Solomon, 63, of 415 S. Fifth Ave., Patton, is facing hundreds of counts of sexual abuse of children for allegedly posting images of a boy and a man in sexual poses on a Web site. He is also accused of storing child pornography on a computer and disks.

Solomon was charged with 680 counts of sexual abuse of children by possession of child pornography, 11 counts of sexual abuse of children by disseminating pornography, plus 11 counts of criminal use of a computer. Solomon was arraigned Thursday before District Justice Charity Nileski, of Cresson, and released on $25,000 bond. He faces a preliminary hearing Tuesday before District Justice Michael Zungali of Hastings.

Trooper Glenn K. Bard, who conducted the investigation for the state police Area III Computer Crime Task Force, said the investigation was initiated by a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The state office of the Internet Crimes Against Children determined in its investigation that the pornographic images were posted on a Web page from Solomon's address, Bard said.

Police allegedly seized two computers, as well as thousands of images and videos of child pornography on several compact discs from Solomon's residence. The computer crime task force is continuing its investigation, Bard said.

In a related matter, the task force is investigating a Somerset County man who allegedly had distributed through a computer e-mail the sexual image of a 4-year-old girl.

Bard said that two computers and compact discs were seized Friday during a raid on the man's residence in Gray, Jenner Township.

Bard said the missing and exploited children center provided the state police with information about the child pornography. No charges have been filed and police are not releasing the suspect's identity, Bard said.
