An anonymous tip from a woman in Utah led to the Wednesday arrest of a Redlands man suspected of molesting an 11-year-old girl and displaying images of himself and the girl on the Internet, police reported.
Walter Neeley, 54, was arrested as he was posting live nude video images of himself and the victim to an Internet instant message chat session, police said.

Earlier this month police received a tip from an anonymous woman in Utah who said she had been engaged in a sexual Internet chat relationship with Neeley, according to officials. The woman reported Neeley, who she knew only by his first name, after displayed live video of himself and the girl and discusses participating in sexual acts with her, police said.

Redlands police began and investigation and were able to identify Neeley and the girl, but the girl denied being molested and police could not establish that a crime had been committed, they said.

While police were investigating the woman from Utah contacted them again and said that another incident of Neeley displaying video was likely to occur, officials said.

Utah police worked with the woman and watched online as Neeley participated in the chat room. When Neeley brought the girl into the video, Utah police alerted Redlands detectives who were waiting outside Neeley's apartment with a search warrant.

Police forced entry in to Neeley's apartment and found him nude in front of a video camera engaging in the on-line sexual discussion. The girl had left the room moments before police entered and was found in an adjoining room.

Police believe that an act of molestation against the girl was prevented by entering the apartment when they did.

"The minute we established there was a crime, we intervened, took the child into protective custody and arrested the suspect," said Capt. Tom Fitzmaurice.

In later interviews, the girl told police that prior to Neeley's arrest multiple sex acts had occurred between them over the course of two years.
