Louisiana law enforcement officials posing as teenage girls on the Internet have snagged a 46-year-old town man on child pornography charges.
Mark R. Emmons, of 1568 Durham Road, was indicted last month by a federal grand jury at U.S. District Court in Lafayette, La. He is the son of former state Rep. Linda Emmons.
Emmons was charged last week with two counts of attempted production of child pornography, one count of using a facility in interstate commerce to attempt to coerce a minor to engage in criminal sexual acts and one count of attempting to distribute child pornography to a minor, according to the indictment.
Emmons, who is being held by Connecticut authorities, is expected to appear this afternoon at U.S. District Court in New Haven for a detention hearing. The hearing will determine whether Emmons will be released on bail prior to his appearance in a Louisiana courtroom.
