Police plan to delete Internet predators

Sequoyah County Sheriff's Investigator Cindy Smith and Pam Crutchfield last month participated in specialized ICAC training in Oklahoma City, sponsored through the U.S. Attorney's Office.
They learned techniques for dealing with Internet crimes against children, such as child pornography.
Steve Tanner, OSBI agent in charge of ICAC unit, said ICAC offers tools and resources to agencies in the program.
Tanner said he receives leads about Internet crimes against children from investigators all over the nation. He said he recently received a lead from Canada about a suspect in Oklahoma.
As ICAC coordinator, Tanner said all leads come to him and he then contacts an investigator if they have an affiliate in the particular area and ask them to work the case.
Tanner said ICAC has a software program available to law enforcement identifying all the Internet provider (IP) addresses, which allows ICAC to see whether a computer has child pornography on it that is available for sharing.
