Three years for conning teens into Internet sex acts

Red-faced and unwilling to make eye contact with anyone in court, a 23-year-old Kingston, Ont., man apologized today to the dozens of teenage girls - including at least 10 in Edmonton - that he had fooled into performing degrading sexual acts in front of their Internet webcams.
"I want to say I'm sorry to the victims and families and I hope that they can move on now," Mark Bedford said before he was sentenced to three years in prison.
The first seeds of the case against Bedford originated in Edmonton in 2005, when two girls, aged 13 and 15, went to police and reported they had been sexually abused over the Internet.
During Bedford's trial court heard how two sisters, 11 and 13, were blackmailed into performing mutual oral sex on a webcam. In a particularly disturbing episode, a 12-year-old girl was twice made to simulate sex with the family dog.
