A Texas man faces as much as 30 years in prison and a $500,000 fine after being caught at Ottawa airport in September 2005 with videos of child pornography on a laptop computer.
When Kevin D. Moore, 45, of Grand Prairie, Texas, arrived at the airport, he told a Canadian Border Services officer he was entering Canada for five days to install equipment, U. S. justice officials say in a release.
The officer asked if he had anything prohibited on his computer and Mr. Moore said he didn't, but that his brother also used the laptop. When the computer underwent secondary screening, the child pornography files were discovered, and Canadian officials arrested Mr. Moore. He was later transferred to Texas.
Mr. Moore was convicted in Dallas of possessing and transporting child pornography. Under Texas law, the maximum penalty is 30 years in prison, a $500,000 fine, and a lifetime of supervised release. He will be sentenced on June 17.
