Stolen MP3 player leads to child porn charge

A Spotsylvania County man was arrested yesterday after an MP3 player stolen from him revealed child pornography, police said.

Matthew Tobias “Toby” Erickson, 27, was charged with possession of child
pornography.

According to a search warrant filed in Spotsylvania, Detective J.C.
Blankenship seized multiple
other electronic devices such as computers, cell phones and two other MP3
players from Erickson's home after the player was linked to him.
First Sgt. Liz Scott said Blankenship is
just beginning to run the forensic tests on those items, which were seized
in the days leading up to Erickson’s arrest.

The stolen MP3 player was brought to the attention of someone at the Sheriff’s Office when a Spotsylvania woman heard two of her daughter’s friends
discussing "disturbing pictures of a little boy and girls" on the MP3 player
they had stolen from a vehicle parked on Wyatt Drive, according to the
search warrant.
