"You are a sexual predator," he said. "You're the worst form of the offender."
Josh Gibson's son missed two weeks of school after William Elson tried to lure him into his car.
"He's scared to death," Gibson said of his 10-year-old.
Elson, 50, of Bucyrus, was sentenced Wednesday to 32 years in prison. A jury convicted him on Tuesday of four counts of attempted kidnapping and four counts of criminal child enticement at the end of a three-day trial.
In November, Elson offered money to children on four separate occasions to go for a ride. Considering his prior record, the implications were chilling.
Richland County First Assistant Prosecutor Brent Robinson recounted Elson's other offenses. In 1983, he was convicted of sexual battery for holding a 17-year-old girl at knifepoint and making her undress.
Since this occurred, my son is afraid to go outside
Paone added his son won't go anywhere without a whistle for protection.
